Mangaluru, Dec 17: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim has clarified that he will be able to dispose off applications seeking permission to organize Kambalas in the district, only after a copy of the judgment delivered by the state high court (HC) is received.

He was speaking to the press persons after participating in the 'Vijay Diwas' programme held in the city on Tuesday. The animal husbandry department had banned Kambala as per the directions of the animals welfare board and Supreme Court judgment, he noted.

'Now, the state high court has issued conditional stay against the above order. As per the guidelines, Kambalas can be held in the presence of tahsildar and police sub-inspector, subject to complying with various other conditions. We will take steps on the requests seeking permission to hold Kambalas once the judgement copy is received,' he added.
