Nationalism as a religion seminar in Aikala on Dec 19,20

Mangaluru, Dec 18: A two days UGC-sponsored National Seminar on "Nationalism as a 'Religion': Trends in India" will be conducted by Pompei College, Aikala's Department of English, Political Science, Sociology, and History in association with private and aided colleges' non teaching staff association on 19 and 20 December at Pompei College, Aikala.

The seminar will have seven Plenary sessions and one parallel paper presentation session. Eminent scholars in the area of nationalism from accross the country will take part in the seminar as resource persons and panelists.

Professor Anand Teltumbde, a human rights activist, educationalist, Dr M Madhava Prasad a famous film and media critic, Professor G Aloysius independent scholar, Dr K Sathyanarayana, associate professor will conduct seminars.

Professors from Mangalore University, Mangalore Dr R Shashidhar from the department of studies in English, Dr Rajaram Tolpady from the department of studies in Political Science and Dr B Shivarama Shetty from the department of studies in Kannada will present their perspectivves on the topics "The Dialectic between Nationalism and Religion", "Contesting Perpectives of Nationalism: Gandhi and Savarkar", and "Rashtra-Dharma: Sameekaranada Samasye" respectively.

Apart from these, 50 delegates will present the papers on various sub-themed in parallel sessions. Arounf 200 delegates comprising academics, activists, research scholars and students from different states of the country will participate and deliberate on issues pertaining to nationalism.
