Mangaluru, Dec 18: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will be organizing Konkani Sahitya Sammelan at Scouts and Guides Hall at Lalbagh in Mangaluru at 9.30 am on December 20.
The Sammelan will be inaugurated by veteran writer and Nrupatunga awardee, Kum Veerabhadrappa.
Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino has said that noted Konkani writer, Edwin Netto, will be presiding over the Sammelan. He also provided other details about the Sammelan in a press meet.
Associate professor in Karnataka University, Dharwad, Dr Shobha Neelavar, will participate as honorary guest.
Pradeep G Pai, MLA JR Lobo and Ivan D' Souza and film director Lawerence D' Souza will also take part in programme.
Konkani achievers will be honoured during the cultural programme.
On this occasion a mega novel, 'Unya Bhavadthache' written by renowned litterateur Edwin J F D' Souza and Andrew L D Cunha's poem collection 'Ayeracho Book' will be released.
On that day,a cultural procession will be taken out at 4 pm. This procession, which will begin at the venue of the Sammelan, will wind through Ladyhill, Lalbaug, and reach Scouts and Guides Hall after moving from in front of the academy office.
Bishop of Mangalore, Aloysius Paul D'Souza, will preside over the meeting to be held thereafter. District in-charge minister, Ramanath Rai, and chairman of Alva's Education Foundation, Dr M Mohan Alva, will participate as chief guests.
Registrar of the academy, Dr B Devadas Pai, convener of the Sammelan, Cyril Sequeira, president of Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Geetha C Kini, 'Kodial Khaber' editor, N Venkatesh Baliga, were present in the press meet.
