Mangaluru: Smuggling attempt thwarted at airport - Mumbai woman arrested

Mangaluru, Dec 19: On a tip off from the immigration authorities of Mangalore International Airport, the officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Friday December 19 intercepted a lady passenger and seized from her possession gold ornaments weighing 749.9 grams valued at Rs 16,49,780, brought by her in a concealed manner.

The gold ornaments, packed in two rectangular shaped packets wrapped in adhesive tape, were found concealed in the waist portion underneath the denim jeans trousers worn by her inside her burka.

The passenger, named Nazneen Banu Mahfooz Qureshi, wife of Mahfooz Ayyub Qureshi, aged about 41 years, is a resident of Khadak, Mumbai.

Nazneen arrived at Mangalore International Airport December 19 at about 0830 hrs by Air India Express flight No IX814 from Dubai.

The said lady passenger was later arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Further investigation in the case is under progress.

    More than anything I am worried about "Mangalore airports reputation"!! if people from Mumbai, think of coming in this route, then imagine, how it is presumed as "corrupt officials" live there!... Sad feeling being a mangalorean!!...

    'Kasaragod' is missing here. Still i find a striking similarity with all the other smuggling cases. Is the similarity 'GOLD'.. No.. Gold is common in all smuggling cases reported from Mlore airport. Something is else also is common in all these reports.
    Gender of the smuggler?.. No
    What else? Any guesses?

    Please do not make Rosha with Poojari.
    When Sidhdu can give chori bhagya for all minorities, then why not for this poor minority lady....
    Let her also be the beneficiary. This Mumbai lady intentionally came to Mangalore because in Mumbai BJP government does not give any bhgya for any chor people. As Sidhdhi is famous for giving Bhagya for minorities, she has come to Mangalore. Let all of us support her logic and request Sidhdhu to look into the matter...

    even China has banned it!... there are enough security lapses due to it!! .... most smugglers, criminals GENTS are also misusing it!... I think govt should review it! ... People here even oppose Khaki chaddis, what is harm in opposing burqa?

    I hope Shakuntala shetty files her report on this!! she asked for BANNING MOBILE PHONES like the seculars here, cos few were misusing it and love,rape and sex used to happen with Mobile phones!

    Chinese use ive target...This ban on burqa is applied to turkic majority Speaking uyghur muslims of Xinjiang who are long fighting for freedom from chinese incursion just like Tibetans....Infact Xinjiang and Tibet are occupied parts which are included in china..It is their internal matter...But you should be aware that this ban doesn't apply to mandarin speaking muslims of china but only to turkic speaking muslims of western china...
    In past they used ive target on tibet...I dont seem you were happy with it...why so excitation now...

    French govt never banned burqa but face veil ...Dont speak without understanding facts....If you got to france by wearing local monkey cap local police will cath hold of you...Burqa is banned inside campus not only that Sikh turban,christian cross ,jewish david star and hindu tilak and sacred thread...Be aware of facts...

    All these displayed jewelelry are 18kt Italian and Turkish Jewellery. These are not for personal use. These are for resale in the indian market. These are exclusive 18kt designs which can only be sold by a reputed Jeweller. The carrier (the woman) is carrying these jewellery for mere amount of 1 lakh or so. Authorities should make a thorough enquiry about the jeweller (Must be a reputed jewellery chain stores in Kerala).
