Udupi: A Ishwarayya chosen for Alevoor group award 2014

Udupi, Dec 19: Renowned art critic A Ishwarayya has been chosen for the prestigious Alevoor group award instituted by Alevoor Group for Education, Alevoor.

Ishwarayya had served as journalist and editor in Udayavani group of publications. He is popular as an art critic and this award is being given to him considering his contributions in the field of music, photography and art.

President of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents, Bengaluru, Veronica Carnelio will present the Alevoor group award, comprising a silver plaque to Ishwarayya at the 11th annual day celebrations of Shathiniketan English Medium School, a unit of Alevoor Group for Education to be held on December 22, Monday, at 1.30 pm.

Block education officer, Udupi, Ravishankar Rao will be the chief guest. The president of the Alevoor Group A Ganapathi Kini will preside over the programme.

In the past, the Alevoor group award, instituted in the year 2005, had been presented to octogenarian P Rabeendra Nayak, environmentalist N Murari Ballal (posthumously), artist Ramesh Rao, renowned social worker Dr S Ramananda Bhat (posthumously), former district surgeon Dr UM Vaidya, president of Alva’s Education Trust Dr Mohan Alva, noted advocate Shirthady William Pinto, Kannada novelist Sara Aboobakar, renowned gynecologist Dr Pratap Kumar, noted educationist Prof M D Nanjunda, popular psychiatrist Dr. P.V. Bhandary and ornithologist Dr N A Madhyastha.
