Beltangady, Dec 20: In an incident reported from Brahmagiri near Madantyar in the taluk, two persons who were trailed by two youngsters, escaped after one of them was attacked with a sharp weapon. Ashok Navada (28),son of Narayana Navada from Machchina village escaped with injury, as he instinctively swerved his torso away from the weapon, at the last minute, it is gathered.

On the night of Thursday December 18, Ashok Navada, and his friend, Deekshit, were moving to their native place, Machchina, when two youth, Shamir Borugudde, and another person who remains unidentified as of now, followed them. When they reached Brahmagiri, the stalkers all of a sudden swished a sharp weapon at Ashok's head. When Ashok tried to escape from the weapon, the weapon came in contact with the backside of his ear, where he suffered an injury. A complaint relating to the incident was lodged in Punjalakatte station.

The complainant has suspected that those who tried to kill him would have suspected that he and his friend were involved with an incident in which a large crowd had obstructed cattle trafficking at Puriya in Maladi village near here, and that the attackers would have nursed enmity because of this suspicion.

The injured got admitted into the government hospital here for treatment. He is likely to be taken to Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

After the incident, scores of people had gathered at the hospital, and controlling the crowd posed a challenge. Pro-Hindu organizations in the taluk have warned of organizing protests if the accused are not brought to book soon.
