Wilson Samuel and Mariel Andrade, the chairpersons for both Aloysians and Agnesians respectively for the forthcoming event, revealed that this year’s event will be special in many ways.

The colleges of St Aloysius and St Agnes in the city of Mangaluru, Karnataka, are two leading and renowned educational institutions in the region, with their inception going back to as early as the 1800s and 1900s respectively. Additionally, they have also produced very successful and world class personalities and great stalwarts who have made Mangalureans as well as whole of India proud.

The concept of reunions of alumni in the UAE was initiated by veteran Jerome Periera (Jemma Padil) way back in 1997 in association with enthusiastic former students of St Aloysius College. Since then the event has created ripples with Agnesians joining them.

Year after year the reunion of the these colleges has attracted large number of former students based in the UAE and the neighboring gulf countries to attend this unique entertainment package. The fillip given by the Aloysians in 1997, and the concept is now spread all over the Gulf and other parts of the world and fellow alumnae and alumni are organizing these type of events from time to time.

Due to the large presence of their alumni within the Indian diaspora in the UAE, the Agnesian and Aloysian Alumni (UAE chapter) organizing committee, that was formed in the year 1997, felt that it would be opportune to have an alumni meet / reunion, once in two years, in order to reminisce the wonderful memories of the yesteryears. This entailed the ex-students coming together along with their families for a full day of fun, frolic, laughter and entertainment. The event was last held in February 2013.

Having achieved record success in preceding years, the alumni/alumnae of both colleges are charged to present a day of unparallel fun, with the fantastic exclusive band consisting of all Aloysians and Agnesian musicians and singers to bring the back the memories of good old days of fun at their respective college campuses.

The glamorous extravaganza - the reunion of former students of both the prestigious institutions of Mangaluru - will be a day of fun and entertainment.

The day-long event will be an excellent opportunity for the alumnae/alumni’s to meet, greet and share their past and present, among the long lost friends, whom they have not met for ages.

The preparations for the events are on full swing and the musicians are busy practicing and have clubbed veteran musicians including the much acclaimed guitarist of India Alwyn Fernandes an Aloysian and top singers from both the colleges who will set the stage of fire.

This event held in the UAE has always been a sellout show. The highlight and unique nature of the show is that the past students themselves perform on stage with their own band and provide songs, music and other entertainment, including eastern and western fusion music. The day will be fun filled with team games, with unique concepts with lots of prizes to be won through various competitions and spot prizes. The action-packed day is an excellent opportunity also to be away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

This reunion will be exclusively for the former students of these colleges and their families.

The event has already generated lot of curiosity among the alumnae/alumni. Every event held in the past have come up with unique entertainment and with lot of surprises.

The entire event will be compered by Errol Goveas the dynamic and popular master of eremony, who has proved his mettle in the past.

The committee members are putting in tremendous efforts during their spare time sacrificing their quality time despite hardships and they have made their intention clear and are hopeful that the forth coming event will be well remembered for many many years to come. They also urge and expect the attendees to involve themselves and be part of the fun-filled day.

The organizers have also requested the former students based in UAE to register their names by CLICKING HERE which will be used as a data base for former students based in UAE.

The organizers have also requested the alumni to come forward with new ideas/suggestions and those who desire to offer any services by means of sponsorships, music and/or showcase their talents, providing entertainment may write to : agaloy@gmail.com

Entry coupons are already out and are available with the following and other committee members. The organizers urge the former students to grab their coupons before it is too late.

Every year since inception we have been contributing our bit towards the noble cause of helping the underprivileged children in their education. This is being done by way of remitting pooled collection every year to our colleges.

I am quite amused at the comments of some folks on this forum on the Agnesian Aloysian Alumni. Hear Ye all you detractors: Aloysians are Aloysians and Agnesians are Agnesians! I am sorry if you are not one of us! We are a breed apart and we know what we are doing! so please do not pass remarks without knowing facts!

To those of you who are ignorant on the matter: The Agnesian Aloysian Alumni in the UAE have been quitely supporting economically backward but bright and deserving students from their respective colleges from the time of their inception as I took it upon myself to find out from the Principal rev. Father Swebert. Unlike a lot of those organizations who shout from the roof-tops for even donating their throw-away old clothes to labour camps here in the UAE they are modest and doing a lot more than eating, greeting and departing!. Well done Agnesians and Aloysians and more power to you!

Great work of Jemma Padil/ Jerome Pereira for his all out effort in forming the Re-union of Aloysians / Agnesians Alumni in UAE, some 17 years ago. Of Course, it is certainly a joyful event of all Agnesians & aloysians in UAE - meeting, greeting, eating & departing. However,May I take the liberty of requesting each member of this Aumni to take up the noble work of educating at least one child from economically most backward family of the place from where such member is hailing from in what ever possible manner? Let us not forget that we are given only one opportunity to pass by this world!
