Bantwal, Dec 21: K M Iqbal (48), teacher, who had suffered serious injuries in an accident which occurred on December 13, breathed his last in a hospital in Mangaluru. Iqbal, who was working as the mass resource person in the department of public instruction, Sajeepamooda region in the taluk, was popularly known as Iqbal Master.

Iqbal was injured when passing on the steel bridge at Panemangalore on December 13. Relating to some office work, he was travelling to B C Road in his Honda Activa vehicle when he lost control over his vehicle, after which the vehicle hit the girder of the said bridge. Iqbal, who fell to the ground as a result, suffered further injuries, after a car that was following his vehicle hit him. He was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru with serious head injuries, and continued to be treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital till he passed away on Saturday morning.

Iqbal was actively involved with various organizations and institutions at the district and taluk levels. District in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, health minister, U T Khadar, and other dignitaries have condoled his death.
