Mangaluru: Police arrest three chain, mobile phone snatchers

Mangaluru, Dec 22: Pandeshwar police have arrested three thieves who were involved in a mobile phone and gold chain theft from a reporter of a TV channel.

Ganesh (29) from Kuppepadavu, Shaikh Mohammed Farhan (16) from Kolya and Mohammed Ashraf (30) from Ullal are the arrested.

As per details, Nagesh, the victim of the theft was sitting on a bench at Balavana park near the service bus stand in Mangaluru when two persons approached him and picked up a quarrel with him without any reason. They demanded Nagesh to part away with his mobile phone. When he declined, they snatched his Samsung mobile worth Rs. ,2000 and also his gold chain worth Rs. 20,000.

Nagesh complained to the Pandeshwar police and got admitted himself at Winlock hospital to take treatment for the injuries sustained by the attack during the theft.

Pandeshwar police without any delay put a trap and arrested Ganesh and Farhan, the two thieves who were involved in the theft. Inspector Dinakar Sheety led the arrest operation. Mohammed Ashraf from Felix Pai Bazar who bought the stolen items was also arrested later.

Ganesh has many theft and other cases pending against him including one at Kadri police station. Mohammed Ashraf too has many cases registered against him including that of an involvement in communal case. Both of them have been sent to judicial custody while the Ashraf, a juvenile has been sent to remand home at Shimoga.

    For such notorious chain snatchers,robbers left only one punishment left ,that is cut both Hands fingers.no jail .no Need of feeding them with somebodyhard working peoples tax.Shame on them.

    SHOULD BE ASSIGNED IN MCC MUNICIPALITY TO CLEAR THE GARBAGE OR CLEAN THE ROADS FOR THREE MONTH INSTEAD SENDING TO THE JAIL !!

    as if rest of the theives, who will rob banks/gold shops, steal cows, or other choris, have a Rubber stamp mark on their head!!... sir, all chors look like us only! no one can be identified by appearence!! "Yaava huttadalli yaava haavo?"!
