Mangaluru, Dec 22: “The UPA government has taken the initiative to implement the tiger reserve project. But the state has not given its nod for the same. The same persons, who were saying that previous UPA government would implement the tiger reserve project, are now singing a new tune. They are asking the permission from us for the implementation of the project,” Said Ramanath Rai minister in charge of Dakshina Kannada.

Rai was speaking to reporters on December 21 in Puttur.

“Six states have connection with the Kasturirangan report. Five of them have not sent any report yet. Only Kerala has sent the report. Gujarat is also one of these six states. Narendra Modi, the present prime minister was the chief minister of that state. Before accusing others of any wrong doing, let Modi himself explain why his state did not send the report,” Rai added.

“We have diluted 37% of the report. We will take decision on the report only after meaningful debates and consultations in all levels including in the village level.” Rai said.

He blamed the opposition for not discussing the north Karnataka issue in the Belagavi session recently.
