Udupi, Dec 22: Shantiniketan English Medium School celebrated its 11th annual day on Monday December 22 at Nithyananda Kini Memorial Stage, Joduraste Alevoor, Udupi. 

The presentation of the Alevoor Group Award was also held on the occasion.

The programme began with an invocation. Roopa D Kini, school principal, delivered the annual report.

Renowned art critic A Ishwarayya was honoured with a silver plaque. After receiving the honour, he said, “The size of an organization does not matter; the quality of education takes priority. Each child is a complete unit. Physical, cognitive, and rational development is also taken into account in child development.”

He added, “A single way of development will spoil a person’s life. There is need to have good sense over thoughts; otherwise, it is very difficult to develop both physically and intellectually.”

Ishwarayya said that parents should not put pressure on children without considering the child’s interest. “Every child has its own potential. So, parents should seek the aptitude and likes of their children,” he said adding that every child wants a separate identity in society.

“Altruism is a human value and another way of development. Children will not get success or happiness by force and if parents take this approach, it will remain an illusion,” added Ishwarayya.

Chief guest of the programme Veronica Carnelio, president, Soap and Detergents, Bengaluru, said that it is essential to look after the children with all love and care. She stressed that children should not be pushed to pursue things they are not interested in.

Ganapathi Kini, president, Alevoor Group Foundation, welcomed the gathering and gave the keynote address.

Chief guest Ravishankar Rao, Block Education officer Udupi, and Dinesh Kini, secretary of the institution, were present.
