Mangaluru: Intoxicating chocolates meddling with students' lives?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 24: Chocolates containing intoxicating substances, which had been recovered from shops located near some schools in Kasargod last year, appear to have made inroads into the district now.

It is gathered that during health check up conducted in a school in Thokkottu recently, a team of doctors found that several students of the school were in stupor. Taluk health officer, Naveen Kulal, confirmed that the doctors had found this strange phenomenon. He said he has sought a report from the doctors, after receipt of which further action will be initiated.

It is learnt that the doctors questioned these students about this phenomenon, and as per information provided by them, visited some petty shops in the vicinity. They indeed found that chocolates containing intoxicants were being sold there, it is said.

There is a possibility that this startling development would have begun taking toll on the lives of students in many schools in the district. The district administration and police should root out this menace from the district before it is too late, people in general feel.

Like cigarettes or drugs that are prohibited to be sold near schools and colleges, intoxicating chocolates and aerated drinks should be banned. It is time that the Government wakes up before this menace destroys the younger generation.

Do not worry. Our Night Raider will do some surprise raids to these shops soon.
Raids at night to hospitals have become common and no more fetch enough interest and publicity among people.
