Kasargod, Dec 24: A long-drawn property dispute between brothers resulted in a murder at Chamakochi near Mulleriya on the night of Monday December 22.

The murdered person has been identified as Budda Naik (42), son of Devappa Naik from Chamakochi.

Relating to the incident, Biju alias Krishna Naik, brother of the murdered man, was taken into custody by Bedadka police. As the spot where murder took place falls within the limits of Adoor station, investigation was transferred to that police station.

Krishna and Budda stayed in adjacent house with a common courtyard. It is learnt that the brothers fought frequently over courtyard-related dispute. On Monday night too the two fought on the same issue, after which Krishna Naik, who was seething with anger, stabbed his brother. The police said Budda died on way to hospital.

Post-mortem was conducted at the government general hospital in the town.
