Madikeri, Dec 24: Mahesh (30), son of Babu from Kenchammanabane here, who had murdered a nurse by hacking her in front of her relatives on the road for rejecting his love for her, killed himself at Beloorbane near Somwarpet in the district.

Mahesh, who had sped away after inflicting several wounds on the body of the nurse when she was walking towards Somwarpet government hospital, killing her instantly, was not seen since then. His body was found hanging from the branch of a tree in the coffee plantation belonging to a person named Suresh in Beloorbane on Tuesday December 23 morning.

Somwarpet police circle inspector, Pradeep, and sub-inspector, Nandeesh, visited the spot and followed legal formalities.

Mahesh had killed nurse, Ramya, daughter of the late Balakrishna and Gopi couple from Napoklu Kolakeri in Madikeri taluk on Monday. The police said that they found a suicide note in the shirt pocket of Mahesh, in which he said he had been in love with Ramya since the last nine years, and that Ramya too had loved him. He said he was frustrated as Ramya of late had begun to keep him away. He said he had decided to murder her because of this rejection, and then he himself decided to end life, as he was dejected with his own life.

It is said that the two became acquainted when Ramya, working as nurse in Channapatna, visited her elder sister at Kenchammanabane, as Mahesh lived nearby. While Mahesh construed this acquaintance and friendship during her further visits as love, Ramya it is said, had not reciprocated this feeling.
