Kundapur: Three-year-old boy falls into pond, dies

Kundapur, Dec 25: A three-year-old boy met a tragic death after he fell into a pond near Moorukai in Basrur here on Thursday December 25.

The deceased has been identified as Abhilash (3), son of Venkatesh and Indira Devadiga, residents of BC Road, Kundapur.

On Wednesday December 24, Abhilash's younger brother's naming ceremony was held, and several guests had come home to attend the programme. On Thursday morning, Abhilash went out to play with the children of the guests and his neighbours.

However, Abhilash did not return home after play even till afternoon. Worried family members then began to search for him, and after sometime, he was found to have fallen in the pond near their house. It is surmised that Abhilash accidentally fell into the pond while playing.

The locals were alerted at once and Abhilash was brought out of the water. He was rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur, but breathed his last on the way.

Kundapur police have registered a case.

    A sad and tragic incident. May the soul of the three year old Abhilash rest in eternal peace. It is unbelievable that this should happen when his younger brother's naming ceremony was to be held. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to the parents and the loved ones.

    Vera sad.Care should be taken when small children of his Age are out and water nearby is.ponds should also have a boundry because of children.How many times are childrenfell in and lost life.Heartfelt sympathys to the parents.

    Too sad to read this news... oneside joyfull ceramony ..otherside painful situation... Nobody knows God's play... lifelong this pain will stay in thier life.. just i pray with god give them strength and courge to control their pain...and take him to heavan.
