Udupi: Two dead, many injured as buses collide near Karje

Udupi, Dec 26: Two persons died and many sustained injuries in a collision between a private bus and mini bus at Guddeangadi near Karje here on Friday December 26.

The accident took place when a mini bus carrying factory workers from Baidebettu towards Karje collided against a private bus plying from Hebri to Brahmavar.

Durgavva (28) from Bagalkot, who was in the mini bus, died in the accident. The identity of the other deceased is not yet known.

Bus driver Udaya, mini bus driver Sathish and factory worker Renavva were seriously injured. They have been admitted to Manipal hospital.

The other injured, some of whom have been identified as Manjula, Raghavendra, Manjunath Shetty, Sharada, Jyothi, Sugandi, Kavita and Kamalakshi, have been admitted to a private hospital in Brahmavar.

A case has been registered in Brahmavar police station.

    Fatal accidents killing and maiming innocent passengers is a never ending story on this stretch of the road, the lesser spoken the better, only divine providence can save travelers who use this stretch frequently, the state of the road gives one an impression that it will not get completed fully even in next 10 years!!! Jai Hind!!

    Driving licensing to be made very strict as most of the accidents are caused by ill trained drivers.

    overspeeding is a root cuase of many accidents. I feel police must check o speeds of buses and put speed governors Otherwise many innocent lives will be lost this way
