Mangaluru: Accused in cattle trafficking, several other cases arrested

Mangaluru, Dec 27: The police have taken into custody a person named Muhammed Saleem alias Siri Saleem alias Ullal Saleem, son of Ibrahim from Ullal Millat Nagar here on Thursday December 25. Saleem faces case relating to an incident in which a vehicle was found to have been transporting a cow in an inhuman way on December 1 this year.

A Maruti Alto car had been found to have been fallen into the roadside drain near the paper mill in Karinje village here on December 1. While those who were in the car had fled immediately after the accident, a cow and lethal weapons were found from inside the car.

A case was filed by police inspector, Ananta Padmanabha, after recovering the cow, as well as sword, sickle, knife etc below the car seat. Under the guidance of city police commissioner, R Hitendra, and assistant commissioner of police, Ravikumar, a special team was formed to investigate the case.

After arresting the accused, he reportedly confessed to have stolen a car from Goa on November 4 with help from Farooque, Tamim, and two others. Muhammed also told the police that this stolen car was used to pick a cow that was grazing grass at Kodangal near Moodbidri on December 1, the police say.

The police revealed that the accused already has been facing cases under different sections of law relating to murder, ganja trafficking, murder attempt, and illegal cattle trafficking and robbery.
