Work on Yettinahole project at Kadumane stopped after trespassing complaint

Mangaluru, Dec 27: The work on the controversial Yettinahole project has been stopped at Kadumane following a complaint of tresspassing by private parties and a court order.

The contract for Yettinahole project has been given to five private companies. As per the complaint, while they were working at Kadumane in Sakleshpur, they entered into a private properties belonging to River View Estate and others owned by a person named Chandru and his business partner.

It is alleged that the company officials working on the Yettinahole project forcibly entered the private properties and even took away some stuff. When the property owners approached the police, the police refused to file a case, sources said.

The Estate owners then directly filed a case in the local court and on December 9, the court issued stay orders on the work.

However, it is alleged that despite the stay order, the work on the project continued. Earlier this week, the villagers gathered at the spot and forcibly got the work stopped.

Sources said that the deputy forest officer assured the locals that he would investigate the alleged cutting of trees by the officials.

The manager of the Estate, speaking to daijiworld, alleged that the company officials engaged in the work also beat up the Estate supervisor when he tried to stop the work, and that the police refused to file complaint.

The manager said that a meeting would be held on Monday December 29 to discuss the issue. "The work on the project should continue only after getting social impact report and environment clearance report, and after people of both Hassan and DK districts are informed and made aware about the project," he said.
