‘Karavali Honorary Award-2014’ for Sadananda Suvarana

Mangaluru, Dec 28: “The district administration will confer the ‘Karavali Honorary Award-2014’ on Sadananda Suvarana, 84-year-old veteran theatre artist, theatre director, film producer, and director,” said litterateur Dr Vivek Rai.

He was addressing the press meet at the DC office on Saturday December 27.

Dr Rai added that Suvarna was born on December 24, 1931. “His contribution to the field of film and theatre is immense. This award will be conferred on Wednesday December 31 at the ‘Karavali Ustava’ Ground,” he added.

He has written several Kannada dramas like ‘Abaagini’, ‘Vishamagalige’, ‘Kula Gaurava’, ‘Kadavane Kalla’, ‘Kannu Thereithu’, ‘Bagna Mandira’, ‘Halladinda Hadige’, ‘Roopadarshana’, ‘Gudeda Bootha’, ‘Kurudana Sangeetha’, ‘Dharmachakra’, ‘Rajaputha Pavada’, and ‘Akasmika’.

He also secured awards like ‘Ranna Award 2002’, seven state-level awards for theatre play ‘Court Marshal’, Rajostava Award from Karnataka state in 2002, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Award Honorary Award-2001, Karnataka Shri Award-2003, Maharashtra Shrestha Kannadiga Award-2004, Karanth Puraskar-2009, Alva’s Nudisiri Award-2008, and Sadhana Award-2010.

On this occasion, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, and ADC Sadhashiva Prabhu were present.
