Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (RJP)

Udupi, Dec 29: In a rare case, a husband has gone to court complaining about dowry harassment.

Abdul Kudrus Khaji from Mallar is the complainant. He has complained that his wife Shabana Banu Khaji has been harassing him demanding to bring more dowry.

As per the complaint, the couple had married in 2011 which was a second marriage for each of them. Abdul had given Shabana jewelry worth Rs 25 lacs during the wedding. Then Shabana demanded Rs 28 lacs which Abdul paid her by cheque. Later Shabana demanded Rs 25 lacs.

Abdul has complained that Shabana was threatening him that she would complain against him with police if he did not bring the demanded money. Tired of the harassment Abdul moved the Udupi family court with the complaint of dowry harassment.

The family court now has directed the Kaup police station to register the case and investigate. Kaup police have started the investigation.

When law say, women can't rape.
So, is there a law that women can't ask dowry from men. Why can't a man be a victim of harassment and violence.

I am also from Kaup and I know the village of Mallar.
Its not believable and absolutely fabricated story. Kaup Police need strong investigation. Jewelry worth 25 lac and paid by cheque 25 lac. Is it a small amount. What a Joke. This is well planed DRAMA by both Khuddus and Shabana.

Cannot generalise, each person has own merits and demerits. How can you so sure about widows perhaps the worst one-by accident/calamity or got rid of spouse by devious means.

This is a very good step taken by man and i appreciate him . Every common man understand that all women related laws are being misused by women and this is also accepted by Supreme Court and in spite of this , Center is not in mood to amend 498A law and is planning for bringing a new anti male law Marriage amendment bill which is going to ruin not only man's life but also his dependent parents and siblings . Better we should not have born as male in this country .First get tortured by wives if not following her wishes and in case of divorce get tortured by anti male laws .

Men should stop entertaining Divorced or separated women . ( widows is exception ). With such money he would have married to a young trophy bride rather than old and mature women ( who possibly come with all baggages ! )

I agree with you, but divorced women are not always a liability. Please read: A young man married a divorced woman and while retiring at night, told her "Let us pray God for strength and guidance." She said "You pray, let God give you strength and let me give you guidance."

This is nothing but an anticipatory bail.
He must be the one harassing for dowry. Sensing his wife would approach authorities, he has taken this step.
