Raichur: Inter Religious Christmas Celebration at Kavital

Raichur, Dec 29: As a part of Christmas celebration, the Risen Christ Church, Kavital arranged an Inter -Religious dialogue on 24th December 2014.

The Programme began at 7:00 pm with a Prayer song. Fr. Ivan Pinto, the parish priest of Risen Christ Church, Kavital in his introductory note said “Christ is Immanuel ie., God is with us. God sent his only son to be with the people and to live and experience totality of the humanity. We too should experience the total love of Jesus and share it with others. Christ called all to love one another and this is the core message of the baby of Bethlehem. As Christ totally shared himself for humanity, in the same measure we are called to share ourselves with our brethren. He encouraged everyone to experience Christ’s love during the Christmas program.”




Sharan Navachetana, youth member welcomed the chief guests. The programme was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp and cutting of the cake. The Chief guests were presented mementoes.

The Chief guest Shree Basavalingayya Swamiji, Kalmata, Kavital speaking about Christ said “Christmas means Christ’s Universal love for the humanity is great, His message is two thousand years old, Christ is the greatest leader to serve, heal, free all from bondage, irrespective of religion caste and culture, so we are all one. Christ’s message is the witness that He is for all. The holy scripture conveys holy messages so it is called holy scriptures. Two thousand years ago Jesus has proclaimed his message for crores of people so I am unworthy to proclaim his message.”

Kareem Saab, manager of Model educational institution, Kavital spoke about the equality of all religions, Hindu, Muslim and Christians being brothers and sisters. He appreciated the relation of the church with local people. He said there should not be any division among us pertaining to caste and religion as we are all one.

Dr. Suryadas, the pastor of Methodist Church also gave the Christmas message explaining various teachings of Jesus which help to live like brothers and sisters under one umbrella.

Kirilingappa, former president of ZP Raichur, Rev. Sr. Divya , superior of Sevashram convent, Fr. Periyanayagam, assistant parish priest of Kavital, Shree Parvataya Swamy, president of taluk Press reporter, Mark, the director of Navachetana youth club, Joseph, president of Navachetana youth club were also present for this program.

People enjoyed the cultural programme presented by the Navachetana students and the youth of Kavital Parish. The Charismas programme ended with the vote of thanks by Shasi Kumar.

People moved towards the church to participate in the holy Eucharist. From 22 villages people had gathered for holy vigil mass. Fr. Ivan Pinto celebrated the holy mass. After the festive Mass, badam milk and cake were served for all the people.

After the morning Holy Eucharist celebration MLC Bosaraj and the local MLA Hampayya came to the Church with the cake and they honoured the parish priest Fr. Ivan and delivered the message.

Bosraj said that Christ’s love should be witnessed in our families and let us become the instruments of love to each other. Hampayya was overwhelmed with the teaching of Christ and appreciated the work of the parishioners. Thousands of people arrived to see and enjoy the wonderful crib and the decoration of the church.
