Teacher from Mangaluru killed in accident at Murdeshwar

Bhatkal, Dec 30: A woman from Mangaluru was killed in an accident on national highway 66 at Mavinakatte, Murdeshwar near here on Tuesday December 30.

The deceased has been identified as Premalatha Kotian (44), wife of Mohanappa Poojary from Kudupu, Mangaluru. She was working as a teacher in Manki Government First Grade College.

It is said that she was riding towards Manki College from Bhatkal when a speeding car with Maharashtra registration hit her two-wheeler. The car was moving from Honnavar to Bhatkal.

Premalatha was rushed to Murdeshwer RNS Hospital, where she succumbed to injuries.

Negligence and rash driving by the car driver reportedly caused the accident. The driver has been arrested.

A case has been regestered in Murdeshwar police station.

    From all these 2 wheeler accidents mostly being hit from rear either the 2 wheel drivers do not use their rear view mirror constantly or they surprise the vehicles by suddenly swerving / braking e.t.c solution is to reeducate this with proper study and use Media to spread the message on how to ride a motorized 2 wheeler safely also especially on highways we could have dedicated lane for 2 wheelers/3 wheelers

    The news is so shocking and saddening. She was not only a good colleague to work with but also a great and loving friend of me and in touch with me till recently. It's so sudden and untimely.     May her soul rest in peace. Another case of careless driving resulting in a loss of young lives. A humble request to all big vehicle drivers think about the lives of scooter drivers as their own and you should be responsible for the death of a innocent human being.
