Bhatkal: Youth drowns in Murudeshwar beach

Bhatkal, Dec 30: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned in Murudeshwar beach, a tourist destination in Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Tuesday 30 December.

The victim has been identified as Satish Basappa (24), a resident of Chikmagalur district.

It is learnt that he, along with his nine friends had gone to Murudeshwar after visiting Goa and Jog falls. They reached Murudeshwar beach on December 30 morning. 

They went into water and Satish was swept away due to strong waves. His friends tried to rescue him but could not succeed.

After the postmortem, the body will be handed over to family.

A case has been registered at Murudeshwar police station.
