Bengaluru, Dec 31: In a heart-rending incident which occurred at Flower Garden near Babusab Palya here on Tuesday December 30, a ten-year-old girl died, while her elder sister and mother were hospitalized in critical condition after accidentally consuming rat poison. It is learnt that the mother had used rat poison to cook noodles, thinking it to be masala powder.

An auto rickshaw driver, Shankar's daughter, Jessica (10), died in the incident, while his wife, Gandhimathi (33), and daughter, Jennifer (12), are undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Shankar had rented a house for his family. Gandhimathi works as housemaid. On Saturday December 27 afternoon, Gandhimathi, who returned from work, prepared noodles by adding rat poison, thinking it to be masala powder, for her hungry daughters. After all the three started vomiting uncontrollably sometime later, they got admitted into a private hospital in Hennurbande.

The doctors treated the three for poisoning for two days. Ignoring advice of doctors, Gandhimathi got herself and her two children discharged from the hospital on Monday December 29. At around 4 am on Tuesday, Jessica's health suddenly deteriorated and she started vomitting. She was taken to a hospital lin Kammanahalli, but she breathed her last before reaching the hospital, policemen explained.

Now, both Gandhimathi and Jannifer are being treated in a hospital.
