Kasargod: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy holds Kalotsava

Kasargod, Dec 31: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy held Karavali Konkani Kalotsav of Kasargod region at Kayyaru Christaraja church premises.

Kasargod varado (region) Welfare Parishat secretary Raju John D’ Souza inaugurated the festival. Kayyaru Chirstaraja Church Parish priest Fr Victor D’ Souza presided over the programme. Mangalore diocese ICYM director Ronald D’ Souza, ICYM president Melrida Rodrigues, Kayyaru Church Parishat vice president George D’ Almeida, Vijaya Jesudas
Convent head Sr Monthin Gomes, Varado ICYM president Bhakthi Prakash D’ Souza and others were present.

Manjeshwar MLA P B Abdul Razak was present as Chief guest. Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino presided over the programme. Kasargod varado Vicarwar Fr Vincent D’ Souza, Kayyaru Christaraja church Parish priest Victor D’ Souza, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy member Lawrence D’ Souza, author Victor Mathais, Stany Lobo, ICYM central committee joint secretary Sunil D’ Souza, ICYM Varado Women’s convener Severine D’ Cunha, Kayyar Catholic Sabha president Cyprian D’ Souza, ICYM president Ajay jobi D’ Souza, Sandeep Monteiro Kayyar and others were present.

Lidia Maria D’ Souza of Bela and Arun D’ Souza were felicitated on the occasion. Lawrence D’ Souza welcomed the gathering. Roshan D’ Souza compered the programme.

In the competitions held at part of the programme, Kayyar team won first prize. Manjeshwar team and Kollangana teams won second and third prizes respectively. The competitions consisted of peeling the coconut, drawing and dance.
