Saudi king hospitalised for check-ups


Riyadh, Dec 31 (IANS): Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was admitted to a hospital Wednesday for medical check-ups, media reported.

He was admitted to King Abdulaziz Medical City of National Guard in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The Royal Court statement wished him good health.

The king underwent a successful back surgery at the same hospital in Riyadh in 2011.

Born in 1924, he became Saudi Arabia's king in 2005. His father was the founder of modern Saudi Arabia.
