Bengaluru, Jan 2: There are indications of hectic political activities happening within the state Congress, after Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr Parameshwar, met his mentor and former chief minister, S M Krishna, and leader of Congress parliamentary party in Lok Sabha, M Mallikarjun Kharge, on Thursday January 1. The meeting lasted long, as Parameshwar held detailed discussions with these veteran leaders.

The discussions acquire importance in view of the fact that a private detective agency had recently assessed state government's performance in the state and submitted its report to All India Congress Committee. Although efforts were made to assign the purpose of extending new year greetings to these meetings, many feel that the purpose might be otherwise.

Krishna, after holding talks with Parameshwar for over one hour, said that politics is never a standing water. 'Politics is volatile. No one can predict what happens in state politics next. Although I was dormant in politics since sometime, I will be active soon. Parameshwar had worked well when he was minister under me, and he had contributed to the good image of the government. I wish that his hopes will come true in the new year,' he said.

Parameshwar, accompanied by his wife, met Mallikarjun Kharge at the latter's home on Thursday. It is gathered that Kharge firmly said that he does not plan to return to state politics at any cost. Speaking to press persons after the discussions, Kharge told the media persons that Parameshwar has maintained high level of integrity and commitment to principles. He too wished well for Parameshwar. Kharge did not want to assign any importance to the visit of Amit Shah to the city, commenting that politics in South India is never centred around personalities, but around policies and principles.

After meeting these two leaders, Parameshwar visited the official residence of the chief minister, 'Kaveri' in the evening and exchanged new year greetings.
