Bengaluru, Jan 3: The ire of state assembly speaker, Kagodu Thimmappa, has turned towards state health minister, U T Khadar, now. The speaker, who has expressed anger at the fact that the minister had furnished wrong information and misled the assembly, has asked the chief minister through a letter, to warn Khadar against repeating this misadventure in future.

Kagodu has asked chief minister, Siddaramaiah, to give strict instructions to Khadar to ensure that he does not own ways which mislead the house and bring disrepute to it.

This was informed by Kagodu Thimmappa at a press conference held here on Friday January 2. 'At the assembly session in Belagavi, minister, Khadar, had given information that the proposal relating to hiking of remuneration of medical officers was pending with the finance department since the last six months. I took up the issue with the principal secretary in the health department and got to know from him that no such proposals had been received by his department. I was told that other than proposal relating to one medical officer, no other proposals were received from health department during the last six months. I was informed that in the recent past, proposal was sent seeking to increase salaries of medical officers without any supplementary documents,' he said.

It is clear that when the minister gave the above information to the assembly, the proposal relating to increasing remuneration of doctors had not yet been submitted to the finance department. Therefore, I have written to the chief minister to warn the minister against misleading the house. For the assembly, ministers are answerable, not officials, he asserted.
