Kundapur: Two held for illegal hunting of wild boar

Kundapur, Jan 3: Range forest officer here and his staff arrested two persons who were found to have hunted two wild boars from the reserve forest area near Harkur handpost in the taluk. Carcasses of the wild boars were also confiscated from their possession. The incident occurred at around 4 pm on Friday January 2.

The accused have been identified as Venkatesh (65) and Shekharappa (24), both natives of Sagar in Shivamogga district, presently living in tents set up at Mullikatte here.

Deputy range forest officers, Uday, Dilip Kumar, and Gururaj Kavarady were involved with the operation, which was guided by deputy forest conservator, R Ravishankar, and assistant forest conservator, Satish Baba, while range forest officer, G Lohit, has been  investigating the case.
