9 kgs gold siezed at Kozhikode airport

Kasargod, Jan 3: A person flying from Dubai on an Air India flight has been arrested with 9 kgs of gold at Kozhikode airport.

The arrested person is Aboobakar Sadat(30) a resident of Bangragudda in Kasargod.

Aboobakar had concealed the gold inside an emergency lamp and table fan. He had wrapped the gold in carbon paper.

The customs officials who acted on a tip off, checked the luggage carried by the arrested person to find the concealed gold. Upon interrogation, he revealed that he was only a carrier who was carrying the gold on behalf of a person from Dubai. He had  to deliver the consignment to a person outside the Kozhikode airport. Custom officers said the arrested person has revealed that he was doing it for a remuneration of Rs 50,000.

The value of total siezed goods is estimated to be Rs 2.20 crore. The hidden gold had 21 pieces. Only last month, 10 kgs of gold was seized from a passenger who also belonged to Kasargod.

    The fellow was atleast sincere enough to tell the truth.Atleast for that sake he should be given less punishment,and let him reveal the Name .May be he was not knowing how and where it is hidden and the amount.These criminals are using some poor People to do this and let them go to jail .Now from where he can pay fine?sometimes feel pity on These fellows who get traped.

    These people are not reading news. Illiterate with good old intelligence or trying their luck thinking airport staff may sleep sometimes.

    Shame.... Kerala Govt should do something to tell the family of history of such cases and list out their names with photos near their religious houses...

    By some how they should stop this as always Kasaragod district is bringing name.... What Kasaragod DC's doing ?
