Sullia: Two held - precious stones seized

Sullia, Jan 4: Forest department employees intercepted a jeep on the side of Kote rivulet in Bilinele village within Puttur taluk, and arrested two persons, who were carrying precious stones which were mined from the banks of the rivulet. The area falls under Kidu reserve forest.

The arrested accused have been identified as Hasainar (24) from Bakilamane in Guthigar village in the taluk, and Ibrahim (49), residing at Opulladka House in Guthigar. It is said that the two were in possession of precious stones dug out from the banks of the rivulet valued at about Rs 70,000. Case under Karnataka Forest Act was registered, and both were produced in Puttur court.

Bilinele rage forest officer, Santosh, and other forest staff were involved with this operation.
