China's former IOC member He Zhenliang dies


Beijing, Jan 4 (IANS): China's former International Olympic Committee (IOC) member He Zhenliang has died aged 85.

He, who was elected to the IOC in 1981 and elected IOC vice president in 1989, died at a hospital in Beijing Sunday afternoon, his family said, reports Xinhua.

He was instrumental in Beijing's successful bid for the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games.
