Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru/Mumbai, Jan 5: The private bus service between Mangaluru and Mumbai is scheduled to start from Monday, January 5.

A M D’Souza, the proprietor of Anand Travels speaking to Daijiworld has said that the bus service which was stalled due to strike by the bus drivers will resume from today.

“This problem arose because of the fight between the drivers and agents. Passengers suffered a lot because of the strike. We are negotiating with the persons concerned through the moderation of Bhaskar Moily. Hopefully the service will resume by Monday evening,” said D’Souza.

The bus service was stopped indefinitely from January 2 due to strike called by bus drivers because of some arguments between the driver of Anand bus and checking staff on January 1. The argument, as per some reports led to a fight. The striking drivers had said that the service would not resume until some issues were resolved.

As a result, all the buses plying between Mumbai and Mangaluru were stopped excluding the services by KSRTC and VRL. It was reported that some people paid as much as Rs 4,500 for one way ticket in black market.

The drivers have been so wrong about boarding passengers on the way illegally. It can be so dangerous. I once had an experience while travelling with my family from Mumbai, I woke up in the middle of the night to see that there were some people sitting in the passage between the seats on the floor. Most of the passengers were in deep sleep and never knew about these extra passengers. When I took it up with the owner, he was aware of these illegal boarding of passengers and said these drivers are uncontrollable. He mentioned to me saying I have been in the field for about 3 decades but this factor has been uncontrollable. He was so angry about this complaint that he said I’m going to come out with something different to reduce such illegal boarding of passengers.
When I was in the office the same driver entered and the owner called him inside to his cabin and asked, “I got a call saying you have boarded extra passengers on the way”. To my shock the driver sweared on his child and said he did not board anyone. The owner sent the driver out and asked me do you have anything to say. I was dumb struck.
In response to my complaint, within 1 month the owner sets up a daily checking squad spending thousands of rupees for passenger safety and now the squad members also get beaten up. I think now its we the passengers have to take the situation in our hands and control the illegal boarding of passengers in the bus.
My suggestion is that every bus should display the number of seats booked and the owners number so that we can complain to the owner in case of any extra people on board.

Boarded a VRL Multi Axle Volvo Bus from Katpadi to Mumbai @ 07:15pm (reporting timing given was 06:45pm!!!) on 3rd January and reached Borivli(Mumbai) @ 05:30pm on the next day. Almost all passengers in the coach (46 seats) have paid 4,200/- each with ticket issued by VRL.

Thanks for the additional buses provided by VRL but for our bad luck.... only our bus(out of 5 VRL buses @ "07:00pm slot"!!!) got stuck (break down)at Udupi Service Bus Stand from 07:30pm to 11:30pm. Got a replacement bus @ 11:30 pm and next morning again shifted to another(3rd) coach(VRL Bus)at close to Belagavi(formerly known as Belgam) for permit related issues Karnataka & Maharashtra States.

While leaving Mumbai on 25th of December 2014 paid 3,000/- for single ticket!!! by Anand Travels (Multi Axle volvo, ticket not issued by agent!!!) Actual fare was suppose to be 2,100/- and VRL were charging 3,500/- for last minute booking.

Some commentators made comments of booking of train tickets!!!. It practically doesn't happen that way in peak seasons even if you book your train tickets 60 days in advance, your waiting list doesn't get confirmed till the last day. Tatkal booking is also the same again one day in advance of the journey if your luck doesn't favors you then you are left with no choice but with the Bus Lobby's Mercy!!! and one need to pay for it "through the nose".

So almost like paying for a "Bus Ride" @ the cost of a "Budget Flight" in India....Acchhe Din...Aanewa... ..!!!!!!

Whether BJP or Congress - it doesn't make any difference to these rude type of drivers and conductors. As for Anand Bus staff the destination point though it is mentioned at the time of booking the ticket by the passenger after reaching the main Bus stop Moodbidri they may say that is the last stop and the passenger has to make his/own arrangement to go further. Since the passengers have no other go than wasting time in arguments have to spend their money and hire an auto to their destination between Moodbidri and Mangalore.

When you speak you have to justify your talk. Not just blame everyone. Not all the transport companies have charged Rs4500. The existing companies have increased the fare quite reasonably during season as they to have to make up for their losses during off season.
Its these companies who ply only during season time take advantage and charge extremely high. So please do justify your talk before you blame.

The other bus were charging Rs.4500/- from Mlore to Mumbai one way more than the train fare.It is better to have double track of Mlore mumbai instead of konkan railway running on single track so that the bus mafia will not loot the poor passenger who have on urgent bases work. The government and the we citizen should wake up to have double track of konkan railway so that we can break the mafia of pvt bus.

Its common in india ,RTO and transport department wake up at the time of accident and again sleep till next incident...i left travelling by volvo buses after banglore and hydrabad accident..lack of sleep to driver means travelling in a machine which may turn passengers into Tandoori-.within some minutes...,

Rs4500/- one way ticket by bus to Bombay!!? Is there any one who can break the private bus mafia and bring them to ground reality??? Give no more chance!! Install alternate transport!! Trains are more comfortable!!! Give priority to train and railway tracks...Bullet train from Kanyakumari to Kashmir through Mangalore, Mumbai, Gujarat will solve major problems even if it takes 5 to 10 years! It should start now!!

Even though majority disagree for BJP here in reality BJP is winner . In democracy voting counts in poll booth and not commenting on articles. All congress supporters are outside Mangalore who do not vote & BJP supporters all are in Mangalore who are voting which matters in reality . This is my observation .
