Mahamastakabhisheka: Emphasis on cleanliness, basic facilities

Karkala, Jan 5: Deputy commissioner of Udupi district, Dr Vishal R, said that during the Mahamastakabhisheka of Gomateshwara to be held between January 21 and 31, importance shall be given to cleanliness and basic facilities. He added that safety of devotees, accommodation, parking facility for vehicles etc will also gain prominence in the plan of action of the district administration.

He was speaking after chairing a consultative meeting relating to Mastakabhisheka organized here on Sunday January 4. He directed Mescom officials to ensure that there is no interruption in power supply during the period of Mahamastakabhisheka. He told the officials in charge of different works for this programme not to keep sending piecemeal reports about the works, but to send a consolidated one after each work is finished.

After appointing PWD executive engineer as the chief protocol officer, he asked the official to arrange for the stay of dignitaries visiting the event. He told them to maintain transparency by posting details in NIC website.

Progress of various works undertaken by the municpality and PWD were discussed at the meeting.

General secretary of Mahamastakabhisheka, M K Vijay Kumar, media committee president, Gunapal Kadamba, and nodal officer, Yogeshwar, were present.
