Bengaluru: Parents assault teacher accused of molesting child, clash with cops

Daijiworld Media Network

Bengaluru, Jan 7 :  A mob ransacked a private school, set many vehicles on fire and took to stone throwing while venting their anger against the molestation of a 7-year-old girl by a teacher at the school located in Hosaguddadahalli, off Mysore Road, on Wednesday.

While some policemen and civilians were injured in the stone-throwing, over half-a-dozen vehicles were damaged in the arson. When the situation turned volatile, the police lobbed tear gas shells and resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob.

After learning that a physical education instructor at the Venkateshwara School had molested a girl student, a huge crowd comprising of parents and local residents gathered in front of the school. They urged the school administration to hand over the accused teacher, Krishna, to their custody.

As the jurisdictional Byataryanapura police rushed to the spot and were taking Krishna to the police station for interrogation, the crowd started attacking him. They dragged him from the escorting cops, thrashed him black and blue and tore his clothes. The police rescued him from the attackers and whisked him away in a vehicle.

Though the situation turned normal towards late afternoon, miscreants again resorted to stone pelting when a peace meeting was being held under the leadership of the local MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan. A sub-inspector attached to the Upparpet police station was injured after being hit by a stone on the face, the police said.

Top police officials, including Police Chief MN Reddi and Additional Commissioner (Law and Order) Alok Kumar rushed to the spot to take the stock of the situation.

"We have arrested some people for attacking police officials and vandalizing public property. And appropriate action would be taken on them,"said Alok Kumar.

Police chief MN Reddi asking public to maintain clam, said "there should be no instant justice and people should let the law to take its own course."

The police have heightened the security in the area and senior officers are monitoring the situation.

Bengaluru which had been rocked by a series of sexual assaults in schools last year had seen massive protests from the public, which led to tightening of guidelines to ensure safety of children at schools.

Jan 7: (Agencies). In yet another incident of child abuse, a eight-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a PT teacher at a school in Bengaluru.

The teacher in question was beaten up as police were taking him away for further questioning. Police had to resort to mild lathi charge as parents who were protesting outside the school demanding action against the teacher, pelted stones at the school building.

The accused who has been working at the school for the last ten years is said to be a repeat offender.

The anger of the parents is natural. Till when will people keep patience. No solid actions have been taken by the govt. in this regard. Its been almost 8 months now and on top of it criminals like those in the fazer town case have been given bail also. Till when will the parents keep calm & patience. There has to be an end to this menace. Naturally if the so called law makers will not do anything people will start taking the law in their hands only.

You must be joking by saying so. If that is the case why Saudi Arabia is not a crime free society even after following shariah for ages.We cannot chop hands and limbs of people or forgive them if they pay blood money. Everything cannot be solved by religious laws. Had it been so then Pak and Saudi would have been crime free society. First shariah then would you suggest declaring India an Islamic republic too ?

Sharia, has brought down crime rate in islamic world..? is there a study done on these statistics?? Pakistan should have been most peaceful, most hardworking nation in that case, right? ....

If you want, on a experiment basis, Sharia can be applied on Muslims.. and see if that works!.. its their law and we dont have unifrom civil code, so they can accept this!... Muslim personal boards should come forward and ask Law making bodies for these laws to be applied on them, on a test basis and see if it works..! honest suggestion!

    No Sir, not at all.
Usually in all schools the PE teacher will be the most strict teacher, keeping an eye on all students even out of the class during school hours.
The children are smart enough to report a pinch on the thigh or a slap on the buttocks in their own versions, coz most of them hate PE teachers.
And at this point of time people are just looking for chances to wash out their other frustrations on anyone at first chance. I believe the teacher wouldn't have been given even a minute to explain.
This is the fact, though most disagree.

It is reported that the teacher was a repeat offender. No need of sympathy.
Trashing him is WRONG. Mob justice should not be encouraged.

Now, no prizes for guessing who the 'mob' was. They were from innocent peace loving community. All were highly educated, cheddiless and decent people unlike the jobless, useless Chaddi goons. You should have seen the size of the stones they were throwing at police vehicles.
