Mysuru, Jan 8: A gang of ten intercepted a car in which two Kerala-based businessmen were travelling, and made good their escape after looting Rs 20 lac from their possession. The incident occurred at Bilikere near Hunsur in the district on the night of Tuesday January 6.

Abdul Majeed, son of Mohammed from Kozhikode and his friend, Zubair were robbed of this cash. It is learnt that they had gone to Bengaluru with the intention of buying vehicle spare parts, but were returning as they did not get what they wanted. At around midnight on Tuesday, their car was passing through Bilikere petrol bunk, when an Eicher car suddenly blocked their path. About ten persons, who arrived there in two cars, then dragged both of them outside their car, beat them up, and fled with their car and cash amounting to Rs 20 lac.

The duo immediately registered a complaint in Bilikere police station. The police laid barricades and checked vehicles at various parts of the district but could not trace the robbers. The car of Majeed was found abandoned in forest area in Mallinathapura village sometime later.

In another incident, miscreants waylaid people travelling in a car at Jayapura in Ramanagara taluk, flashed lethal weapons at the inmates, and fled with cash amounting to Rs 22 lac. This incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday January 7.

Siddappaji from Elekeri Extension in Channapatna lost money in this incident. He was travelling to Jayapura along with his son. Some miscreants who got wind that they were carryi ng cash, followed them, and threatened to take away their lives if they do not part with the cash.

After the robbers took the money away, Siddappaji filed a complaint at Ramanagara rural police station.
