Udupi, Jan 9: A man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Samigenagar, Udyavar here on Friday January 9.

The deceased has been identified as Dolphy (52), a resident of Aroor Thota in Sampigenagar.

It is said that the first death anniversary of Dolphy's mother was to be observed on Friday with a mass at St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar in the evening. Dolphy set out from home for the church at around 9.30 am to oversee the preparations, but did not return home even till late afternoon.

Much later, a lady who stays in Dolphy's house stumbled upon his body a little distance away from the house. She immediately informed a another lady and also Dolphy's brother Melwyn.

Based on prima facie evidence, it is suspected that Dolphy was murdered. Locals said that there were wounds on his face and his skin had darkened.

Dolphy was unmarried.

The body was shifted to Ajjarkad government hospital for post-mortem. The exact cause of death would be known only after the report is out, police said.

Kaup police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
