Bengaluru: Minor fire reported in CM Siddaramaiah's chopper

Bengaluru, Jan 10 (Agencies): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a narrow escape as a minor fire was noticed in the chopper which he was flying in.

On his way to Mysuru, Siddaramaiah was accompanied by state home minister, PWD minister and his staff.

Siddaramaiah, Home Minister K J George and PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa and a senior official were asked to disembark from the helicopter owned by a private aviation firm as the fire was noticed at the HAL airport here, the Chief Minister's office said.

The fire was noticed in the silencer of the chopper just before take off. A technical glitch is said to have caused the fire.

A harsh sound emanated from the silencer before the fire caused by the technical glitch was noticed, as the pilots were readying for take-off, the CMO said in a statement here.

The Chief Minister was going to his hometown to take part in several developmental programmes in Mysuru district after attending a Yoga campaign in Bengaluru.

Siddaramaiah later left by road to Mysuru.

    Thank God for saving you. My advise to you is never use local Chopper and never trust your own body guard. For short distances you better do not fly. Keep some good and sincere Christians as your body guard. I want you to live and rule the State of Karnataka. We have very Police Officers like Mr. BIPIN, Mr. A.M. Prasad, Mr. Murugan, Mr. Amrith Pal, Mr. M.A. Salim and Mr. Om Prakash, they all good IPS senior Officers. Have meetings with them to honest body guards. Now one should take the law in their hands. Our National Leaders should be given highest Security. How can we believe the body guards? Mrs. Late Indira Gandhi's body guards deceived her by killing her at the instruction of opposition leaders. So be careful and I can only support in my prayers. May God bless you to be a long time CM of Karnataka. You are truly a great man and non-corrupt.

    Congress politicians & CMS who are growing more powerful and famous than the royal family at 10 Janpath or who do not have the blessings from royal family should be carefully when they fly especially in helicopters.we have seen it since sanjay gandhi days upto Rajesh pilot and Madhav Rao Schindia & YSR. Better not fly and drive around. Atleast they will survive. Anyways god bless our cm.

    Well, One advise to Siddaramayya!... be very careful while flying in helicopters!! statistics suggest that, when it is not going great for congress, their "going against the tide" leaders have had a air crash!...

    Sanjay Gandhi, Madhav Rao Scindia, Dheerendra Brahmachari, YsR reddy - all have dies mysteriously!... and right now, central leadership is very critical of Siddu's functioning and a fall out seems imminent!.. I wish him well.. :)
