Mangalore, Dec 19: Aksharotsava 2006, a programme organised by district Navasakshara Development committee was held on Tuesday December 19 at the Karnataka State Employees' Association Hall at 12 pm.
Earlier, a rally was held at Light House Hill here. The programme was inaugurated by ZP joint secretary Shivashankarilla, ZP chief accounts officer Thimappa and chief planning officer.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness among the people about nature protection, total cleanliness, health education, election and many other informative topics.
Many scholars, prominent persons, panchayat presidents, vice presidents including Mangalore city corporation Mayor Vijaya Arun were present.
