Mangaluru, Jan 10: ‘Woman: The spark to your fire’ the 135th College day of St Aloysius P U College Mangaluru was held on Saturday January 10 at the college pretorium celebrating womanhood with all its glory.
Roy Castelino, eminent builder, social worker and president of Mandd Sobhann, gracing as the chief guest said, “Women must not become the victims of discrimination. They should be treated with respect. The youth must be motivated to preserve the rich heritage of our country and honour women”.
Dr Stanislaus J D’Souza SJ, provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province presided the occasion and appreciated the work of the staff and students and urged the students to pick up values, learn new language, music and sharpen their brains.
The other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, rector, St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Joseph D’Souza SJ, finance officer, Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ, principal, Rekha K Alva , vice principal, Claudette Fernandes , PTA vice-president, Joseph Prem Saldanha, pogramme convener and the student council members.
The occasion was celebrated with enthusiastic participation of over 4,000 students, parents, staff and well wishers.
The programme ended with the cultural extravaganza.
