Kundapur, Jan 11: A female buffalo that has given birth to two calves has become centre of attraction in Kattinamakki in Harkur village near Kundapur.
In a rare instance, the buffalo has delivered the second calf after three days of delivering the first calf. Both the calves are said to be in good health.

Narayana Devadiga from Horne Thotagiri house is the owner of the female buffalo. The buffalo delivered the first calf on January 7. But on January 10, there was a surprise when it again delivered the second calf. It is said that the second calf is heavier than the first.
It is believed that a female buffalo delivering twins is uncommon while incidents of cows delivering twins have been reported. But a twin birth with a gap of three days in both the cases is unheard of.
The mother buffalo was born on December 1997. It was the mother of 4 calves before the recent births, which makes it the mother of 6 calves. Narayana Devadiga, the village assistant by profession, is happy about the twin arrivals at his place.
