Mangaluru, Jan 12: A loss of around Rs 2 lacs has been reported after a house caught fire.

The house belonged to Dayananda at Kolambe, Kandavar near Bajpe. As per the preliminary reports, the fire destroyed the roof and walls of the house and also the household goods including cash and jewelry.

When the fire appeared at around 9 am in the morning, there was nobody in the house as they were attending prayers in the nearby temple. When the neighbours saw the fire, they informed Dayananda and the fire brigade.

The fire brigade managed to extinguish the fire but the damage was already done.

Dayananda is a daily wage earner and has two daughters to look after. Hence the loss of Rs 2 lacs is heavy for him.

Bajpe police and gram panchayat officials have visited the place.
