The ship, 'Vijayalakshmi', which had begun its journey on January 10, was located about eight km off the dock here, when it sank at about 4 am on Monday due to some problems.

It is learnt that all the seven sailors on board the ship, identifief as Krishnan (37), Karunanidhi (42), Manikyavelu (39), Pannirselvam (59),Muttu (46), Manikantan (26) and Raghuraman (24), could save themselves.

The captain of the ship, as well as the six other sailors who hailed from Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, clung to wooden planks for seven hours and floated in the sea till some fishermen on a fishing boat which went into the sea in the morning saw and rescued them, sources said.

Thank you for the show of compassion. It was very kind of you to stand up for these poor sailors in distress in response to a very painful comment from a low-life who does not realize how uncultured and boorish he comes across as.

No matter how each one looks, we are all created by God in his image to serve a purpose. Each of us have to be thankful for what we have been given - looks, money, comforts, luxuries and so forth. Anyone who criticizes and looks down upon another is to be pitied and prayed for.

These poor men have lost their livelihood and probably very nearly lost their lives. I hope they are able to recover fast and get back to where they left off in the pursuit of their career and goals in life. I request that all those who sympathize & empathize with these poor sailors say a special prayer for the ones who have a rigid and narrow definition of a sailor and his appearance, and be spared the wrath of God for the utter uncouth expression of superiority.

Those who are exalted will be humbled and those who are humbled will be exalted. Blessed are the poor for the kingdom of God is theirs.

    Dear Michael Sir,

There is no value for human life in India, even in foreign country for Indians, reason being we have not controlled our population growth with reasonable methods. Our huge man power is making our value down every where, see in this case also owner of this sunk ship not even bothered about any safety measures in case of emergency i believe there is no life jacket too.
Any way god is grace he blessed these poor guys with their precious life.God bless them with further more success.
