Mangaluru, Jan 13: A youth who was in love with a girl from another community was beaten up by locals when he visited the locality where the girl lives, on the evening of her wedding day.
A gang of youth launched murderous assault on Padmanabha with a sword and other weapons on Sunday January 11 evening, it is gathered.
In this incident, Padmanabha from Boliyar was hospitalized with serious injuries. The accused have been named as Siraj, Nissar, Abubakker, Ashraf, Basheer, Habib, and R H Monu from Boliyar Rantadka.
The incident occurred at Rantadka Korangipalla in Boliyar. Padmanabha, who runs a hardware-cum-mobile recharge shop in Boliyar, reportedly visited Korangipalla in the motor bike of his friend, after he received a call on cellphone.
It is said that Padmanabha came in contact with a girl from Korangipalla Rantadka when she was attending tailoring classes. It is said the two were in contact with each other on cellphone. Padmanabha has claimed that he was called to Korangipalla as per a plan hatched by the gang which had made advance preparations to assault him. The other party claimed that he had come there with some other purpose.
Konaje police intervened and took control of the situation. A case stands registered there. Investigation has been undertaken.
