Bengaluru: Congress councillor shot at, hacked to death in daylight

Bengaluru, Jan 14 (DHNS): A gang of five unidentified men opened fire at a Ramanagar CMC councillor and hacked him to death in the broad daylight in Ramanagar town on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as H Mohammad Nizam Pasha (35), a Congress councillor of Topkhana Mohalla (ward number 13). The police suspect old rivalry behind the murder. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants.

“The initial probe indicated that Nizam Pasha, who was a rowdy-sheeter, was murdered over an old rivalry. There are definite leads and we will arrest the accused soon,” Ramanagar Superintendent of Police Dr Chandragupta said.

In a complaint, the slain Nizam Pasha’s relative Younis Pasha has said that rowdy Samad and his associates have murdered the councillor. Nizam Pasha and his associates had allegedly murdered Abdul Jabbar in 2008. Jabbar’s aides have settled the scores by eliminating Nizam Pasha, the police suspected.

After attending the funeral procession of MMU Trust founder Syed Muneer’s relative Syed Jamshed, Nizam Pasha went to the CMC office along with his friend Mir Jaan to help the latter get a khata of a property. The duo then proceeded towards the house of Nizam Pasha’s brother Parvez to take part in a ritual on a bike.

Two unidentified men came on a bike and collided with Mir Jaan’s bike near Bescom office. Three more joined the duo on bike. One of them pumped three bullets into Nizam Pasha’s body while others hacked the councillor with sharp weapons.

Nizam sustained massive injuries on his head, face, chest and abdomen and bled to death on the spot, said the police.

On being alerted, the jurisdictional police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Ramanagar government hospital where post mortem was conducted.

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, Chamarajapet MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, former MLA C M Lingappa and a battalion of local leaders visited the hospital.

The slain councillor Nizam Pasha was detained under the Goonda Act two years ago. The police had also detained Samad, the prime suspect in councillor’s murder case, a couple of years ago, the police added.

@Richard, I meant this case does not seem to be politically motivated, rather a case of personal vendetta. So party in this case is irrelevant. He being a congress councilor is only incidental to the matter. There are a whole lot of news readers who draw faulty motives, attributions and conclusions by associating political party for every damn thing. Thug is a thug whichever party he may belong to. Let the deceased RIP ..

Is, Taliban type, barbaric way of life is fast spreading in India. (not limited to certain community)
Few months back there was horrible revenge murder in Adyaar, then Keshav Shetty incident. Time to time, humans are mercilessly butchered. OMG.

Why does the news have to mention the name of a political party. He is a councilor and that's it. It is not necessary to bring political identity in such news. Old habit die hard even for the media people

Yes I fully agree with Willy Mangalore's comment. This is happening only because of our weak judicial system. As long as our judiciary system is amended, these Goondas,rowdies,anti-social elements/radicals will remain as it is and roam scot-free without any fear as long as they are enjoying bail-conditional or unconditional.I would suggest, eliminate them from the society for ever without any mercy and consideration or sympathy. Then only public will have little apprehension/fear otherwise this will continue for ever without any solutions/end.They keep on committing crimes, police will nab, judicial conduct inquiries and will be either freed for lack of evidence or will be awarded bail.No punishment,no fear, they are free to move in the society and resort to their old business of committing crimes, murder etc etc.Bent dog's tail cannot be straightened, even if we put it inside the pipe for several years and remove.

Yes give them more and more bail, this is the final result, rest in peace. Goondas will remain goondas, this is their job, you leave them they cannot forget their old habits. So best put all the unwanted elements from the society at rest forever and ever.
