Bengaluru: Teen son of retired BSF jawan shoots himself dead

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 20: In an incident which occurred at Doddabommasandra in Vidyaranyapuram here on Monday January 19, a student killed himself with a gun.

The student has been identified as Jitendra (17), son of retired Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, Chandrashekhar, and Geetha couple from Kushalnagar, presently residing in the city.

He was studying in the second PU class of MES College in the city. He had opted for commerce stream.

At around 1.20 pm, when he was alone at home, the boy fired at the bed with a licenced double barrel gun of his father, and then turned the gun at his head and fired. The neighbours, who heard gun shots, came running and informed police. By the time police came to his house, his mother also reached home, it is gathered.

It is said that after voluntarily retiring from BSF, Chandrashekhar was working for a security agency, while his wife, Geetha, works for a gas agency at Malleshwaram as an assistant. Geetha told the police that she and her husband had left home at 8.30 am. Her son, who was to attend preparatory examination at 9.30 am, had absented from the examination, although he went to the college. 'He called me at around 12.40 pm to ask when I would return. He was sobbing at the time. I was taken aback at this development, and repeatedly called him, but he did not pick the call,' she explained.

In a suicide note left behind, Jitendra said he had decided to leave his parents all of a sudden because of certain reasons. He assured that he will be born as the son of the same parents in his next birth.

Although the boy did not mention the exact reason which bothered him, the police suspect that he was overwhelmed by anxiety at the poor performance at the college.

    Very sad that his parents were not there when he needed them.something must have disturbed him not to attend School test.Everyone faces such a time in their life.May be some misunderstanding between students?or with some love affair?Only a minus punkt is the father should have kept the gun under lock.so could have prevented a big tragody.Heartfelt sympathy to the parents.may his Soul rest in peace.

    @Rita,
    Why are u just assuming any nonsense? Let us leave it to the police. And it is suicide. If the gun was hidden maybe he would have hung himself to the fan. Now don't comment that the ceiling fan also should have been hidden.

    ಬಹಳ ದು:ಖದ ಘಟನೆ.. ಮಗನನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಂಡ ಆ ಹ್ರದಯದ ನೋವು ಆ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ತಿಳಿದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಒಂದು ಘಟನೆಗೆ ನಾವು ಹೆತ್ತವರು ಕೂಡ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣರಾಗಿರುವೆವು.. ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಂದ ಆವರ ಸಾಮರ್ತ್ಯಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆಫೇಷ್ಕೆ...ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಹೋಗುದರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಚಾರವಿಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದು.. ದೇವರು ಆವನ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿ ದೊರಕಸಲಿ..

    I think we as a society are creating races and competitions of good marks, good jobs, good looks and good fan following. Anything less, we feel is not worthy of note.

    We should stop focusing on the TOP, FIRST, ONLY ONE, BEST and the likes and focus on ordinary, common and simple. The children and families in this category need more kudos than the glamorous center stage ones.

    Sad for the parents, and definitely for the boy, who called the mother, because he loved them.

    If he had love for them and he had some value for their sacrifices he would not have left them in darkness.Even if given a chance in next birth these parents wont choose him as a son for sure. If had love he would have shared all the things and solved. If you dont have the respect and if you dont value the person then thats not love.
