Sharjah, Dec 26: ‘Our children must be taught the worldly knowledge at a young age; respect toward elders, the traditional upbringing and incorporation of Indian culture in the modern lifestyle are the few aspects the parents must teach their children... The Karantaka Associations must propagate these facets in their programmes,’  thus advised Indian Association Sharjah president Mathews.

As chief guest, he was addressing the Kannadigas at the installation and oath of office of the new executive committee of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah held earlier this week in the Auditorium of Indian Association Sharjah.

 

Guest from the Beary Association Dr Kapu Mohammed and M E Muloor commended the activities of the Sangha and called for mutual respect and love between the communities. He said that the love of Kannada and practice of the language in day-to-day life would bring about cordiality between different sections of Karnataka society.
 
Sudhakar Thumbe, Ashok Anchan of Gulf Billawas, Manohor Hedge from Karnataka Sangha Dubai were present on this ocassion.
 
Outgoing president Ganesh Rai in his thanksgiving speech narrated the sorry affair of how Kannadiga adopts and speaks other regional languages while residing in those places, while resorting to English language in his home state!
 
Patron Denis D’Souza while congratulating the new managing committee, complimented the outgoing President and the committee for the splendid manner in which they planned, coordinated and organized various colourful cultural and sports events during their tenure. He wished and hoped that the new team would take Sharjah Karnataka Sangha to newer heights of glory and popularity.
 
At this glittering function, president of Indian Association administered oath of office to the newly elected president, popular leader Prabhakara Ambalathere.
 
Later, new president in turn administered oath of office to VP Prabhakara Shenoy, general secretary Shantaram Achar and to all other elected members of managing Committee for the years 2007-08.
