Mangaluru, Jan 21: "Karnataka is transforming into an international terrorist hub. ISIS coordinator Mehdi who was recently arrested in Bangaluru worked as a recruiter and enrolled many youngsters into the IS organisation, and on other hand it is learnt that bombs manufactured in Bhatkal were responsible for many blasts that occured in different parts of India. This is a serious matter," said Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) leader Satyajit Suratkal.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday January 21, he said, "Serious action should have been taken by the goverment when it was learnt that many youngsters were involved in Indian Mujahiddin from Bhatkal and throughout Karnataka. When we look at the statements given by home minister K J George, it creates suspicion that the government is creating a way for escape for the youngsters involved in the terrorist groups."
"Parents of youngsters who were caught with bombs and explosive raw materials are defending their children by saying police themselves planted the bombs and made false allegation against their children, and at the same time, the government is indirectly supporting these terrorists by giving statements that parents of these terrorists can be given any help.
"The government is saying youngsters who were followers of Mehdi on his social networking account have been bought on right track through counselling. Yes, parents are not responsible if their children make mistakes and getting youngsters into the right track is a good thought, but what if this is misused? Is there any guarantee it will not be a means to escape from law by claiming they have come to the right track? Does this relate to all the people, all organizations and at all times? The government has to answer these questions."
He further added, "This government blames Hindu organizations of moral policing and says it will eliminate moral policing, then why is it showing soft corner towards terrorists? Is it because of vote bank politics? HJV is questioning the government on behalf of all the citizens," he said.
Answering a query by a reporter, he said, "Previously terrorists were operating from abroad but now they are operating from Karnataka and within India. ISIS which is known to be a powerful terrorist organization was operating from Bengaluru and this is a matter of concern."
HJV leaders Kishore Kumar, Amith Kumar and Subash Padil were the others present at the press meet.
