Dummy passenger arrested at Mangaluru airport

Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Jan 22: Bajpe police on Wednesday have arrested a person who was using the ticket of another person to fly to Mumbai from Mangaluru.

The name of the person arrested is Mohammed Shakil.

As per details, Imran a person from Mangaluru had bought two tickets to fly to Mumbai, one in his own name and another in his mother Shamshad Begaum’s name.  But instead of his mother, he took his friend Mohammed Shakil with him.

They were supposed to fly by a Jet Airways scheduled flight to Mumbai. The CISF officials, who came to know about this fact, stopped Mohammed Shakil from flying and called Bajpe police.

Bajpe police arrested Mohammed Shakil. It is an offence to travel by another name which is normally overlooked in other modes of transport. With so much of wrong things happening in air travel these days, such offences are not tolerated.

Bajpe police, who have registered a case, are investigating.

Learn definition of terrorism first: The use of violent acts to frighten the people in an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal.Dont judge anyone so quickly.Let police do their job,if he is then he will be punished.Maintain peace.Respect each other.#PEACE.

The incident looks like an act ignorance rather than suspected to any criminal act. How a man would travel when the ticket clearly indicates woman’s name. Let police conduct their investigation but not to punish if they are found innocent.

Authorities did the right thing by not allowing him to travel. But they should have taken Imran also for questioning as he is the one who bought 2 tkts and allowed his friend instead of mother. May be Shakil unaware of air line rules just thought of enjoying a free ride. Imran misguided him. Any way it seems there is nothing serious issue here.

Probably his mother could not come at last minute and he did not want to loose his ticket money so he invited his friend to take a free ride to mumbai and promised him to book train ticket back. Could happened or could not . But one of relative was stopped with valid ticket with valid passport with e-visa, but for not doing so called ok to board. lost big money in ticket cancellation.

Kusuma said "May be a terrorist".....What is wrong in that. May be a criminal, want to escape from Mangalore to Mumbai to his hideouts? Most of the criminals following the same tricks , traveling by others name.

Why tyhe people here can not understand . Every person has his own thinking.

95% of the Smugglers caught by Bajpe Airport are from Kasaragod from same community.

You can't hide this open truth.

Don't support the criminals whoever it may be from any religion.

I appreciate your comment. It helps a lot for passengers. Or at least airlines should charge nominal fee to cancel a ticket. Airlines are making huge money due to cancellation of tickets. If the ticket will be transferable, then there will be less cancellation.

I consider this is trivial and that person should be let off if he is not involed in any Criminal activity other wise .Indian Railways has already announced thatFamily relatives can travel for teh ticket booked in the name of their relatives .All the airlines also should follow this rule otherwise if we want to change last moment we have to pay huge price. In Indian railways we have to just give a letter 24 hours prior to departure .

    Dr Kamath,

imagine original passenger commit murder, rape or such criminal activities, how could be culprit caught if he present air ticket counter file to the court? So,it is a proof that passenger traveling in the air in that particular time.On the other hand under the circumstances(terrorism plus)

    CISF did right job.
