Bengaluru, Jan 23: The Karnataka state high court has imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 to a Tahasildar in Bengaluru for unnecessary delay in his work.

As per details, the name of the Bengaluru East Tahasildar is Harish Naik.

A person named Ravikumar with other two had complained that, in spite of an order from the high court, the tahsildar and deputy commissioner were not allotting Khata relating to their properties in Mullur village.

Justice Ramamohana Reddy who heard the case said that Tahasildar Harish Nail should pay Rs 30,000 to the aggrieved parties equally (Rs 10,000 each) and should allot the Khata before January 31. The court specifically mentioned that the amount should be paid from tahsildar’s pocket.

In 1962, the state government had allotted 4 acres each of land to Keshavamurthy, (father of Ravikumar) Nanjundappa and Sathyanarayana Sharma. Their names appeared in RTC till 1998. But surprisingly the names disappeared after that. Ravikumar and others moved the court regarding this matter.

In 2013, a high court bench ordered the tahsildar and DC to include the names of the three persons in RTC.

But instead of following the order, D C and tahsildar went to the extent of filing criminal cases against the aggrieved parties saying that the original documents were not available and wrong information was given to them on the matter.

Questioning the attitude of the officials, Ravikumar with others moved to the high court again.

The tahsildar who was present during the trail did not offer satisfactory defence for his inactions.

Justice Ramamohana Reddy in his order said that the court in its previous order had come to the conclusion only after verifying the documents and hence it was not fair on part of the Tahasildar to talk about the genuineness of documents.
